I think you have just found how all Apple products work.

BSD did this with gets() a very long time ago
-
Seems it was at least 27 years ago: https://github.com/dspinellis/unix-history-repo/blame/BSD-SCCS/usr/src/lib/libc/stdio/gets.c …

I love that you followed your answer with attached research!

credit goes to

Could all browser makers add a 5s penalty to all pages loaded over http and recommend switching to https?
-
:O Some pages dont really need https. And it would cost a ton of MONEY. Leave it as is and we will be pushing computer literacy foward
-
Can you elaborate on the cost part?
-
I just think it is way too big punish (botj time delay and pushing to buy a certificate) when simple sites don't really need it.
-
Certificates are free and trusted from Letsencrypt and with automation there's really no excuse in time anymore either.
-
Completely agree with this. Unless you're a big corporation and want a shiny extended SSL cert. They cost a fair bit.
-
If you're a big corpo, that cost shouldn't be a big deal. Plus, if a big corpo doesn't value HTTPS,, there'sly a problem somewhere.

Apple does this with every major iOS release for the previous gen iPhones/iPads.

@LexManos see this >.> :P -
@Spigot_MC already does this with a 15 second timer when running outdated builds. I just open reJ and NOP the instructions. -
And this is why you don't do things that effect the end user... Because they are just annoying.

The thing that makes it OK is the clear instructions and the immediate offer for the new libc++.
