The least judgemental people in society are those who can profoundly disagree with the morals/actions of others, and yet love and respect them all the same. The most judgemental people in society are those who view such moral disagreement itself as a form of hate and disrespect.

  2. Today is a special day in Aussie history. On 3 Feb 1788 Rev Richard Johnson conducted the first church service in the implausible convict colony that would become modern Australia. Here's our 15min Undeceptions 'single' to mark the event:

  3. What have the Christians ever done for us? That is the question asked by someone who should have known better. He got more than he bargained for in the reply!

  4. I've got the World Religions on the brain at the moment, but perhaps there are others who might be interested in seeing the latest figures for the six major Faiths.

  8. This is the text—photographed from the very page—that launched (modern) Australia, as the Rev Richard Johnson conducted the first Christian service on our shores in 1788.

My sincere condolences to on the death of his father John. Losing your dad is always hard, and even more so when you are serving as PM. My thoughts are with him and his family.

  10. I just talked with about history, oral tradition, and the life of Jesus. He is famed for getting the best out of his guests - so I suppose this is me as good as it gets!

  11. It looks like 'unbelief' peaked 50 years ago, with Agnostics making up 14.71% and Atheists 4.46% of the world's population in 1970. Since then they have both been in steady decline, with best estimates indicating they will be just 7.18% and 1.51%, respectively, by 2050.

  12. This feels very special. I have long admitted I am unable to celebrate without first acknowledging my heartache and hopes for Indigenous Australians. And this Sunday St Matthew's Manly offers the perfect way to acknowledge both our sorrow and our joy.

  14. If suffering is relative to bliss, Jesus' image of the "fire of hell" - whatever it means concretely - is an apt picture of the loss of the unfathomable bliss of heaven.

  16. Come to Israel with me! Another tour this year just opened up (for 2-9 December). It's not a pilgrimage but an exploration of the origins of Christianity, for believers & doubters alike. Check it out. I'd love to have you along.

  17. If you're in Sydney this Sunday with doubts & questions about the Jesus of history, I'm talking all day at St Matts Manly on the topic "The Teacher who Changed the World", followed by Q&A. Last week was a blast, with loads of visitors in attendance. Hoping for more of the same.

  18. Does anyone know if there is a paper in the last 10 years arguing that global warming is not real or not a problem, which was (a) written by a relevant expert and (b) published in a peer reviewed scientific journal? If it exists, I'd love to read it. Many thanks.

  19. While ever we suspect that climate 'alarmists' are motivated to reorganise society through big government, and climate 'deniers' are motivated to give power to big coal/business, we won't hear each other, evidence will become secondary, and coercion will seem reasonable.
