We are going to court. Our lawsuit takes aim at Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Verizon, AT&T and the entire online advertising/tracking industry by challenging industry rules set by IAB TechLab. ⁦

This is an important campaign to hold the UK ICO to account. It had the duty to protect people from illegal online surveillance. It did not do so.

Today, the UK Government has put consent spam on the agenda for the G7. This is daft, because the UK Government could have fixed it before Brexit. See thread.

Once again Ireland is caught acting as an uncooperative data haven and other European institutions have to step in in its stead. It's a sad thing to see, I hope they fix soon.

Paragraph 10 summarises GDPR enforcers many criticisms of how the Irish DPC had initially handled this WhatsApp case. Much of this 89 page document is devoted to adding detail. (See paragraph 10 on page 7 and 8.)

The EDPB binding decision shows how many DPAs criticised Ireland's handling of the WhatsApp case: Germany (the Germany federal authority and the Baden-Württemberg authority, too), France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Hungary. (p. 4)

There were pages and pages of objections by other enforcers to the initial decision submitted by Ireland. This is quite a document
