Amazon was the first to realize that every internal team must expose its API as the primary product. Twilio and Stripe are doing the same, with enormous success. Critically it allows much closer monitoring of intra-firm interactions between divisions, giving top down management much more power and control. I think this is legit governance tech innovation.
