What would you like in it's place? Bail is to ensure two things 1) that the person shows up for court and 2) to ensure the safety of the community.

The only way I could see this working, would be to end bail requirements for non-violent offenders, and a blanket no bail option for violent offenders. It would also require steep penalties for violating court orders for non-violent offenders who attempt to just evade the system
