Ever heard of the US AIR MARSHALLS worked out great when they implemented that “Idea” when was the last time you heard an American Airplane was taken hostage..... I’ll wait.

Did you hear of the armed stewardesses force? No. That would be the proper analogy to teachers being armed.
-
Thank you, John! If I wanted to live with a gun on my hip I would have gone into law enforcement, not teaching.
-
I highly respect your view you don’t have to be one of the ones that volunteers for such a proposed program but I assure you that you have colleagues that would gladly take that responsibility for the sake of our children.
-
I don't believe you would respect my view. My view is that we need better laws & enforcement, not guns in classrooms. I wouldn't teach under those conditions. And I would talk my daughter out of her profession as well. Enough with the wild west mentality.
-
I'm absolutely fine with myself. I spent countless hours educating and protecting children, sometimes to the detriment of my own family & health. I'm not ashamed of my service in this world & I'm not ashamed because I won't buy into your gun culture.
-
And welcome to the US. I hope you will see improvements while you're here! We are extremely motivated, in case you haven't noticed.

Hey, John, I'm a former cop and firearms instructor (and a fan!). I wrote a pretty thorough thread on this terrible idea:https://twitter.com/KoolMoeSteve/status/964690097625972736 …

Steve...I am a retired federal parole agent who was armed in my duties. I absolutely agree with all your points...100%. Thank you for writing these truths!
-
Thank you, Robyn! I"m getting almost no one trying to argue these points. People who know guns know there's more to protecting with a gun than just possessing it.
-
Yes! Thank you! As an educator I appreciate your ?s for people. I need to help my students grow academically/socially/emotionally. 1) I would never want to use a gun 2) Give me more training on how to meet the social/emotional needs of my learners.

Typically the average police officer hits their target 20% of the time. How accurate do you think teachers will be?

I agree with you 110%. Please continue to speak out

Teachers don't need guns. They need people to fund their
@DonorsChoose requests for pencils, books and crayons. Find a school in your community and help out:https://www.donorschoose.org -
It is shameful. How many times have we seen teachers in line buying supplies for their classes out of their pockets, but now some idiots suggest they become armed security. Probably expect them to provide the gun, bullets and extensive tactical training.
-
The whole thought process behind all of this is insane
-
It is an NRA talking point. Sells more guns if teachers are armed, as opposed to less in sales if common fucking sense prevails.
