I'm a teacher. I own guns. I'm adept at shooting them. This is the dumbest idea in the damn world. No teacher should have this responsibility and frankly I can't think of one I'd wholly trust with it.

I’m hoping we see an uprising of teachers strongly opposing this ridiculous idea. Teachers have one of the hardest jobs out there, the last thing you guys need is the added stress and pressure of having to be armed.

I teach preschool. That’s 2, 3, and 4 year olds. I would shield everyone of them with my life, but there is no way I would have a firearm in my class. I’m supposed to make sure 8 two year olds are quiet and hidden and get out my gun and go looking for the gunman?

I'm a teacher - with 25 to 30 people relying on me to teach and build the foundation to motivate them to be Lifeling Learners - the very last thing I want to do is carry a weapon and show them how to take a life. They see enough of that on the streets and in the news!

I’m a teacher. I have to buy my kids pens and paper. Where is the money for this fantasy armed teacher? (I will leave the profession before I hold a gun.) I spend a lot of time contemplating how many of my students will fit in my class closet.
