No, love. Chicago and Washington DC have tested this theory, that strict gun control would curb gun violence. It didn’t. Just ask them. We need to have serious policy conversations, but they should start with basic facts.https://twitter.com/johnlegend/status/964382050739306497 …

SE conveniently completely ignored Australia and the UK. When was the last time they had a mass shooting? Before gun control laws.
-
Australia & UK don’t have the second amendment guaranteeing the right for one to defend himself by bearing arms.
-
It starts, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State”. Which Militia were each of the mass shooters in?
-
Where’s the requirement to register as part of a militia? And militia doesn’t mean what you claim it does.
-
You’re blind to the facts and history. Sad.
-
Not blind so much as complicit, I would say.
-
I disagree. Calling these people blind is giving them an excuse. They're in on it, period.

Most murders are committed with hand guns & it's against the law to sell a handgun to someone that isn't a state resident. So I guess criminals aren't paying obeying that law. Huh, imagine that.
-
How is it US, alone of any western country, has frequent mass shootings? Mass shooters use AR-15-style assault rifles, not hand guns. UK has had 2 school shootings ever, US 18 in 2018. AR-15s banned in UK. The key difference between US & rest of West is the law on gun ownership..

How was it that Derrick Bird killed 12 people in 5 boroughs over a period of 3 hours in the Cumbria shootings with a double barrel shotgun & a bolt action 22 rifle. He didn't have an AR-15 & he also didn't have any armed resistance.
-
local cops were unarmed & it took 2 hours to get armed police to the scene.

My brother and I have been on two juries at 26th and California criminal court where the guns used in the murders were purchased legally in Indiana...used to murder in Chicago.
@secupp's talking points are stale. -
It's S.E.'s alternative reality & all of the .
@GOP! The fact they don't know these issues is obvious. She gets handed talking points & runs with it like a robot. All of them. I was on#CriminalGrandJury for 5 wks at 26th & California in#Chgo. I agree with Dash!#AlternativeFacts -
Your right. I thought she was smart, but has drank the koolaid on this issue.

Ok... so explain why Gary, Indiana, and Wisconsin don't have the problems that Chicago are having. You'd think they'd at least have similar problems. The fact is bad people that do bad things don't follow laws.
-
Gary and Milwaukee both had higher per capita murder rates than Chicago in 2017.
-
When you extrapolate gun homicides from that, Chicago is more than twice the rate of surrounding areas.
-
Your understanding of 'per capita' is........unique.
-
How so? Murders per 100000 people. It's pretty straightforward.
-
Milwaukee, just north of Chicago, has a much higher per capita murders rate. As does Savannah, Dayton, Cincinnati, NOLA, and so on. It was only 25th out of the top 30. Missouri has among the slickest gun laws...and St Louis City came in #1.
-
Right. I think we are agreeing?
