Gun deaths are also more prevalent in states with lax gun laws. And America is by far the most gun owning major country and our deaths by gun reflect that, regardless of the decline since the 90s (which corresponds with overall decline in crime)

Amazing how we read this and reach different conclusions. I read this and see much stricter gun & amunition control than we have & a recognition that while Switzerland has one of the highest gun homicide & suicide rates in Europe it’s not even close to the U.S.’s horrific rates

I live in Chicago with the strictest gun laws in the country. That's not working. I do believe we need better screening especially to detect mental health issues however it needs to be in conjunction with securing our schools. They're open targets.

We had “better” screenings or regulations on people with mental health issues when purchasing guns, but one of the first acts the current president signed was eliminating those (btw I also live in Chicago).

Well blame ACLU on that one also. The law said if you're not able to manage your money via SS then you have a mental disorder. The ACLU was totally against it, rightfully so. Too big a of a blanket

Live in Baltimore. Strong gun laws and murders everywhere. They tried to make mandatory sentences for those caught with illegal guns.Guess what? The farthest on the left of the city council were all opposed. They watered it down and ended up with a worthless law. They suck also
