Think of how absurd and repugnant it would be to erect a memorial to Bin Laden in the middle of Ground Zero to "preserve history"

Robert E Lee absolutely belongs in history books. We all agree on that.

But, like the confederate flag, his statue is a representative of a lot of pain for a lot of people. We HAVE to respect that.

I was floored to hear there still a Confederate statue in Baltimore. Also shocked there are still hundreds all over America.
