NOTE: There are no monuments to Adolph Hitler in Germany.

Because he was a mass murderer
-
I can't tell if you're agreeing with Legend or not? Robert E Lee also facilitated MANY MANY murders, you know that right?
-
Absolutely agreeing with
@johnlegend. The Germans got it right. They learned from the history but refuse to glorify it. -
Correct. Even at a museum dedicated to Nazis in Munich, they are judged harshly. There was one side. They were murderers.

Absolutely. Simply mentioning Nazism can get you in trouble in Germany.
-
Why is that a good thing? Freedom of speech should be protected by any means necessary
-
Well the statement is not 100% Phrases, symbology and similar that were used by Nazis can get you in trouble.
-
Also freedom of speech ends when it is used to oppress other groups.
-
Well said. There is a thin line between freedom of speech and hatred
-
Hate speech is protected under free speech, though.
-
It should be the one exception to the rule. The world can do without hate. Not just America, but the world
-
The problem is every person has a different definition of hate so who decides what hate speech is? Only calls to action are exempt

As an American in Germany-you're absolutely right. Never going back to the US as long as Trump is president/relevant.

And so many fought and died to get rid of those extremists over 70 years ago. Now we have one in power.

The difference is Germany is actually ashamed of its racist history. And not enough Americans are ashamed of theirs.
-
As a German I can say: The younger generation is no longer ashamed but more aware of its racist history.
-
But at the same moment, there are new racists upcoming in Germany. Strange world we live in.
