I don't disagree however the threshold would have to be lowered. Difficult to reach it w/o the Supers.

plus Dem/rep are private parties, join to have a say. They don't have to let anyone other than their own have a say

yes please. And open elections, why keep people out? That's not the Democratic Party I know and love

open elections are scary. People from other party can take over primary to nominate a less viable candidate

true. But hard to figure out how to keep troll voters out without also keeping sincere new party joiners out.

In CA you can register like 2 weeks before the primary. I think that system works to let right people into primary
