1/ Experimentation is a critical tool to move your business and your understanding of customers forward. Unfortunately, most experiments are bad. What’s the difference between a good experiment and a bad experiment? [credit to for the style]

What a jerk. No homeowner complained. These were "sting" operations that encouraged a house painter to also lay some tile and then arrested the handyperson for not having a tile laying occ. license.

Which products are purchased together can reveal a lot about their relationship. But so can which products are viewed together, but not co-purchased. Our ( & ) new working paper leverages both types of baskets...

Did they need an app? Sounds like a google form would have sufficed (*ducks in case some election security expert is on here*)

I think we tend to overrate how much tech actually works because we so often use products built by teams of hundreds or more well-paid engineers. Your average guy who codes could spend 2 months building an app and 5 users would find 30 bugs within 5 min of downloading it.

Deleting this under-performing tweet. The “joke” is that in Scott’s other book “Seeing like a State,” permanent last names are given as an example of the state trying to make society more legible and controllable

Car-free zones I'd like to see in NYC, LA, SF, and Boston. Could start with "only local residents and workers get a car permit to enter the area", and speed limit is very low, to begin with.

I know the marshmallow test is questionable, but my spouse bought boxes of tic tacs for both our children. The girl ate just one that first day and the boy ate every tic tac in his box in 20 minutes.

Looking forward to co-teaching grad Labor at MIT this term. Here is my reading list (for the second half of the semester), with emphasis on imperfect competition in the labor market.
