Today's comedians--with perhaps the sole exception of Louis CK--aren't funny because they're afraid of what happened with Margaret Cho or Michael Richards: they're terrified of having their careers ended by politically correct watchdogs.

Jim Jefferies: too Australian; Stewart Lee: too British; Patrice Oneil: race, race, race (yawn); Kurt Metzger: have no idea where he's coming from, but he's not funny. Not a single giant amongst them. And by giant, I mean Robin Williams, Pryor, Carlin, Cosby, Carrey etc.

He STOPPED being funny, and started being more politically conscious about his jokes, and consequently is no longer funny. Too bad.

Okay. Lets get serious a bit. I imagine that that DOES happen, and I imagine tht sometimes, for some performers, they clean up to get carried by a Netflix etc. HOWEVER - lets be real. There is WAY more freedom now, for people to get exposure - themselves via Youtube etc. or

Maybe for amateurs, but not for the mainstream. They have to watch what they say. And I just don't see them having the courage of a Carlin, a Pryor, a Williams or a Dangerfield.
