Today's comedians--with perhaps the sole exception of Louis CK--aren't funny because they're afraid of what happened with Margaret Cho or Michael Richards: they're terrified of having their careers ended by politically correct watchdogs.

Nonsense. Bill Burr, Chapelle, Joe Rogan, Kurt Metzger, Doug Stanhope, Patrice Oneil, Stewart Lee, Jim Jefferies, Sarah Silverman.

Jim Jefferies: too Australian; Stewart Lee: too British; Patrice Oneil: race, race, race (yawn); Kurt Metzger: have no idea where he's coming from, but he's not funny. Not a single giant amongst them. And by giant, I mean Robin Williams, Pryor, Carlin, Cosby, Carrey etc.

Also disappointed to hear "too British" is a thing

Tom Segura, btw, is an interesting case in point: in his first Netflix special he was REALLY funny. But then he lost all his weight, and simultaneously with the next two specials, his humor declined and I noticed that he was being very PC about what he said.

Anyway. Funny or not, I dont think their ability is restricted by what you say. I dont think any of them - +a few more - are scared by the PC brigade

Yeah, just no giants amongst them. A disappointing generation by contrast with the previous generation of Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, and then before them of Rickles, Dangerfield, Mel Brooks, etc.
