@johndavidebert I’m in the early pages of Decline of the West and it’s a bit over my head. Is Spengler saying Western man sees itself as man-become and not man-becoming? Or vice verse?
Neither. The Become is Space and analytical thinking; the Becoming is Time and intuitive thinking. Every civilization has both. The priests, then later the scientists, are in charge of the world-as-nature; the men of deeds, in charge of historical becoming.
