Hollywood was dominant for a while, but there's a false assumption of ergodicity. Nowadays, more and more people consume their favorite online streamers everyday, and know little outside of that. Youtube, Twitch, and podcasts are way more powerful than Hollywood.

Not so sure about that. A good empirical question. Any data to back that up? (and note, I am considering Netflix etc part of Hollywood)

I'm considering Netflix, Amazon, and Youtube Red as oppositions of Hollywood. They have their own original series. Therefore, there exists divergence. There used to be just Hollywood, now there are many more possibilities for content creation and consumption.

Maybe there is some more diversity in content, but I would argue that they all still exist within a single homogenizing cultural frame...

There exists an interview somewhere on YouTube where Jeremy interviewed me about this book. I remember that it was a really good, fun interview, one of the best I've ever done due to Jeremy's interviewing skills.
