I've met this species in a few places outside the standard expected gate area or the plane itself (though it's real fun to watch the flight attendants properly and wonderfully scold them when they keep talking when the door is closed.)

But today, I'm grabbing a bite at an airport bar and there's one of these men (at the other end of the bar, far away) speaking very loudly and actually, rudely to whoever he's speaking to (like chastising them), and watching someone who I think is his coworker who is embarrassed.

He's rude to the bartender as well (shocker!), and the person sitting to the left who isn't related to him already grabbed his drink and moved to another part of the bar in frustration. As I write this thread, the elapsed time of this loud phone call is about 16 minutes.

In an age where we barely talk on the phone, it's remarkable to see this. And I see it nowhere else. Just airports, all over the US. I don't expect it to ever go away. But it's something I just don't understand, culturally.

Also, I'm NOT going to shame the person and photograph him, ala
#planebae. I'm not angry, just disappointed and curious how this is a thing that happens and disrupts an otherwise quiet airport refuge. I feel bad for the person he's talking to and of course his coworker. /End-RantShow this thread -
PDX-PSP, passenger behind me, talking at least in a shouting volume level to a business associate - on a Saturday night. As always, the best people are those who talk super loud in airplanes and airports.

Bonus disappointment points when they put their call on speaker...happened across the aisle from me on the airplane.
