You would need to use arbitrary precision and rational numbers to avoid numerical errors if this is using newtonian physics for the simulation.

Arbitrary precision at some point will be compromised. Sustaining the simulation with rational numbers is only way, but even that cannot be forever unless things are periodic. The moment full-precision is lost, all bets are off. In reality full-prec is lost due to other forces.

Good ol' Runge Kutta Dormand Prince. The reason it all went to hell is the numerical imprecision. Actually the reason it became a little bit asymmetric is more probably the floating point accuracy. Then numerical imprecision added some twists. And then the dynamics went nuts.
