Without claiming to have followed the developments closely, it seems like the "applications" of CT fail to stir interest of the actual practitioners (not category theorists) of the fields being applied to. Is this a fair assessment?

Can you recommend a good starting textbook on Category Theory for beginners, ideally suitable for those without a math degree? (I have a solid grounding in computer science and a little discrete, & the more I learn about category theory, the more I want to learn about it!)
