Multiple independent recognized virology and epidemiology scientists with experience in the field and access to primary or primary-derived data. They are estimates, so could be wrong, way off, or inaccurate, and the key variable to watch is transmission.

@alexvespi's MOBS Lab estimate is 12k on 7800 reported. Our line list has 7400 cases. On Jan. 18th,@MRC_Outbreak estimated a max of 10k. So doubling the 10k twice is 40k which falls in the confidence interval estimates in the aforetweeted
