For background, read this Axios summary of his upcoming testimony, and which committees, which in fact does matter a lot.https://www.recode.net/2018/4/4/17196716/mark-zuckerberg-testimony-congress …

I've found that Mssr. Z. tends to evade and keep all options open, not commit to a POV, until forced to do so. Recall how he responded to the idea of testifying back on March 21?https://shift.newco.co/zuck-ducks-the-tough-questions-5063a81ec75a …

This makes me think that he was buying time while his team worked backchannels to make sure the testimony was going to be at least somewhat manageable, if not entirely choreographed. Which the last one was (with the counsels from G, Twitter, FB).

So that's my question for you all: What questions might bring the real Mark Zuckerberg out? I think we have a right to really connect to this man, as a public good at this point. No?

IE: "Mr. Z, do you acknowledge that the issues raised by the recent controversy are not ones that one company, or one man, can possibly solve? That you need to put country and humanity before the interests of your company, and therefore not claim you can fix this yourself?"

Of course, there's the question of timelines, which feels more investigative, but timelines on many of the recent revelations are not adding up (for now), and some Congressfolk love to work timeline based lines of questioning. So there's that.

The Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees are no joke. Having both in the room is going to be something of a clusterf*ck.https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/press/rep/releases/senate-judiciary-and-commerce-committees-announce-joint-hearing-with-facebook-ceo …

Judiciary alone has 21 members, including
@KamalaHarris@amyklobuchar and@CoryBooker - all of whom have agendas, conflicts, and a reason to shine. And those are just (some of) the dems. Yes,@DianneFeinstein too, but.https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/about/membersShow this thread -
The Commerce Committee has 27 members, a few duplicates from Judiciary, but we're talking two score Senators with agendas in one meeting. Not since Gates in the late 90s have the stakes been this high in one tech company.https://www.commerce.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/committeemembers …

Oh and
@JeffFlake is on Commerce - and he has every reason to go rogue if he feels like it.Show this thread -
Somehow this thread got bifurcated and therefore makes no sense. Either I suck at Twitter (utterly possible) or...well. I'll just write a post about all this. Much easier, because I can EDIT MY WORK.
