Facebook’s Open Graph is exactly what put them in this mess. It seems very unlikely that further openness is an option at this point.

Companies like Cambridge Analytica stealing Open Graph data isn’t really a “scandal of their own making”. It just speaks to the imposssibility of protecting data once it is released.

@johnbattelle partner categories may get shut down but “private partner categories” (3rd party data masquerading as 1st party data) prob won’t.
