        This is facile. Your argument from platforms to capitalism to journalism etc is still steeped in so many assumptions about the western world. Like parts of it are just what they are. And there’s implied ideas that journalism itself and tech itself is a good thing. Rethink needed

        It’s not about regulating the platforms per se. but instead dealing with people. Currently there is almost no material way for citizens to affect fb and Twitter. It is not a commons. Citizens don’t own it.

        Sure they could walk away from it just like they could walk away from the 5 food companies or 4 banks in America. But not really. And you know that. That’s why we need our elected officials and institutions we do control to have some material power over these
