Logging into anything with Facebook always creeped me out. It felt...somehow inauthentic. But I didn't imagine THIS.https://www.wired.com/story/facebook-security-breach-third-party-sites/ …

It's interesting to me that of the two big stories about Facebook this week, both involved disclosure of user data, but only one was hacking/security. The other big story: FB encouraging users to sign up for 2FA, then letting advertisers target those phone numbers.

You know what the scary thing is? Consumers don’t seem to care about this!!! I’ve asked a couple of mates and they literarily are not even aware of this!!

“The idea is to use a trusted service—like Facebook Google, Twitter, and so on—to log into sites and services across the web....” Anyone who has treated FB as a “trusted service”, given their history, is an idiot.

I think it's a good day for sites to start dropping Facebook integration.

I stepped away from Facebook about a year ago and I never accessed anything via my facebook login. That did not feel right. It felt slightly voyeuristic even then. If I could wean myself off google, I would do the same to that platform as well.

Look at Zuckerberg. This is the face of a sociopath robot. LOOK AT HIM. Trust your gut. At very LEAST he's a foreign operative. He can literally ransom most Americans data if he wants to. How could you not imagine this?

It's a compromise right? In IT, we call this federating your identity. On the plus side, the end user doesn't have to maintain a bunch of credentials. The user enjoys a smoother, more friction free Single Sign on experience. Down side is, well, evident.

Facebook's CEO can't be trusted to serve the interests of the FB users first, he's all about fast big expansion, profits and how many times over the years have FB users been pissed off at arbitrary redesigns and glitches in FB that make the user experience worse! Too many!
