What the actual fuck is going on with the probation service and our judicial system?

As 11pm came there were fireworks in dozens of locations over SW London looking down towards Hampton Court and further west.

This is pretty exciting... US court has established a precedent that website scraping is legal: And they even went so far as to uphold a lower court ruling that prohibits interfering with web scraping

If your org doesn't have deliberate software architecture, then all your software engineers are building arbitrary undesigned structures, and your CTO is the mayor of a software shanty town.

.... Self-signed certificates beget long lived certs, which beget lack of certificate validity monitoring, which begets curl -k, which begets a lack of certificate deployment automation, which begets self-signed certificates ....

I told this story unplanned and impulsively at code freeze, I may as well tell it here too. It was deep in the dog days of last summer, our funding situation at its grimmest. I lay awake every night gnawing and fretting over whether we really had product market fit or not.

Not good. How long before these cameras are officially declared institutionally racist, like the itself?

Hey y'all, because I ❤️ each and every one of you. I'll help you build a Serverless App... and make AWS pay for it. For real. * * Up to $20,000, and some other legal mumbo jumbo. FOCUS ON THE FREE MONEY.

Ordinary workers are taxed on sales revenue - wages being the income from labour sold. They don't get to tot up living costs, subtract them and submit a vastly lower personal "profit". So don't tell me it isn't fair to tax hugely wealthy internet giants on a share of UK sales.

I was lost, on my way to an audition in 1992. Rather desperately, I stopped a man for directions. He started to explain but then said it would be easier to show me.He walked me there, told some stories, then came in to charm the casting director because I was late.

Hi , do you have an indication of which version in the roadmap where JavaFx on Windows will be supported please (even as early adopter)? It’s a very cool tech and my team would love to put it to use!

Google is shaking down fucking charities for their pound of trademark flesh. Truly despicable. It’s like Google has simply decided it’s a sovereign entity that deserves the right to levy taxes on all businesses. We desperately need monopoly intervention, 🙏

Thanks for the intro (), it helped a lot with getting started. Have you ever done anything with SNI reverse proxying TCP or know any good resources for that please? I’m trying to understand how to use `sni_cluster`!

“Where are the tests for that?” is a phrase that can fix all sorts of problems, current and future, in a non-confrontational way.

Great story - for me, it reinforces views of mine: 1. Variable overflows are real. 2038 is an issue. 2. Code *must* be tested. 3. Issue would not have been as severe had someone asked of the original developer when the code was being merged: “where are the tests for that?”.

I’m seeing this on Twitter lots but here’s a contrary story. I got flown to Dublin by . Extremely friendly team, well organised interview day, was made to feel very welcome. Didn’t get that job, probably best for both of us in long run but I enjoyed the experience a lot.
