Is this a change? Has that not always been the case?

In the film campaigners produce alarming statistics that show how sharply hospital beds have been cut - we are now way down the intenational tables in terms of beds per 1000 of the population - whilst hospital trusts have been allowed to expand their private provision to 49%.
-
Decreased hospital beds ought to be a good thing, the problem is insufficient community support, insufficient early and preventative interventions
-
As shown in my film 94% of social care (ie non-hospital provision including care homes and their beds) had been privatised by 2012. The private sector's shortage of care beds is, as I understand it, the key cause for having to keep patients in hospital beds and 'bed blocking'.
-
Lack of social care places pushes people to hospitals. Private elderly care providers push patients to ED admissions the moment something is wrong and delay as much as possible their return. Beds full of people who don’t need to be in hospital.
-
Further lack of funding for Trusts and inability to fill significant medical and nursing vacancies means that beds must close of safety grounds. Creating a circle of punishment, higher vacancies and bed availability.
-
In my film campaigners see the squeeze on NHS funding is deliberate, creating the space for the private sector to move in and take over the profitable services. The high extra costs of private healthcare will then push those that can afford it to take private health insurance.
-
Some still see this as conspiracy but Its the only logical explanation now if you dismiss profound government incompetence at all levels.

https://twitter.com/dsam4a/status/1012697192455290880?s=19 … NHS or brexit? How many millions will be without healthcare if brexit means US style private healthcare?
2:20 -
Why would the end of the NHS mean US style healthcare? Look at other systems nearby that are also (semi) private and work quite well. Do not make the same mistakes the americans Made. Private healthcare will be of higher quality than the NHS delivers.
-
If you see my film you may get some idea of of the ways in which the NHS is being US models and systems are already being implemented and where these plans originate from. Best, John
-
Hi John, i am not looking for the how but for the why. Privatisation of healthcare is not a bad thing in itself, quite the contrary. But why choose US models. Does the film explain that too?
-
If you see my film and/or go to my blog http://www.johnfurse.wordpress.com for links to what is happening you may come to think differently. Best, John
-
Not a chance John, I work in healthcare myself and get a view behind the scenes in a variation of countries/systems. The US and UK amongst them. Not the best systems by far.
-
If you feel the Commonwealth Fund's 2017 report in my film is questionable what about privatisation's role in declining NHS standards? There's a video on my YouTube channel with a GP you may find interesting. He too has worked abroad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQBT0dG6stY … Best, John

Its coming to the Isle of Wight. GP practice partnerships annulled, set it up as a business with business manager running the show. Bringing in Computer based A.I as port of call for patients. It decides if you see a doctor. That's what I'm told we will be getting .

Thank you for this information. The film got a strong response when I showed it at The Quay Arts Centre, which was gratifying. Spraeding the word as widely and as quickly as possible is vital. Best for next year despite everything! John

#NHS privatisation has been happening for two decades or more and the process was speeded up under 13 years of#Labour government according to a Band 7 nurse I know! Stop the political point scoring. You don't really care about people or#Healthcare. -
John Furse's film fully confronts the Blairites' commitment to ending the NHS -noting that David Cameron put Blair's key NHS privatisation advisor in charge of England's NHS, back from 10 years at United Health in the US. It is focused on defending the NHS.
-
My film actually tracks NHS privatisation back to the Ridley Report on privatisation from 1977 follows the story from there. Why not see the film before making a judgement? Best, John
