Learn more I kept this out of my reportage but I'm having a hard time not finding it in TREMENDOUSLY poor taste. no, for the US it really only exists in history books... very detached and historical. i think there's not much thought on it bc american involvement in ww1 was so limited we see it as a setting for books like a farewell to arms and all quiet on the western front, not as a real war WW1 did not "happen to" America so thoughts are very different here-- when people even have thoughts Americans do tend to know that it was extremely horrible, but it was 100yrs ago, now, and it has no emotional stakes for them
