I always thought that was the Native Americans that chose that to ensure people didn’t pose as them to gain certain liberties. But of course like so much in this country it’s a decision made by the same group of people without ever considering the actual people it effects.
Joe, trust me, read STOLEN CONTINENTS by Ronald Wright (also a Short History of Progress https://youtu.be/AsPMaGdg_38 ) and 1491 by Charles C Mann, these books will change everything you think you know about America's indigenous people on it's head. Amazing untold history.
I read “Black Elk Speaks” by John Neihardt. I highly recommend it.
Yea its a very eye opening book, times were brutal back then.
