I am just going to assume that all the delay is because Tom Steyer won and the party leaders can't believe it

I ask because playing around with human SNP datasets, it appears that smaller chromosomes (20, 21, 22) have lower heterozygosity. My guess is that these have less recombination and so a stronger effect of HH/BGS on pi. But I can't find data on either pi or r across chromosomes

Is there a paper with a good graph showing how genetic diversity varies across the human genome?

  8. Just signed up for a meeting with during his seminar visit this week. When I put it on my calendar, I discovered I can't type his name without writing "Blacksburg" instead

  9. PPS: The genetic correlation is obviously 1.5, not 3. I promise I sometimes do math correctly, though I am increasingly dependent on a computer.

  11. Still learning how to teach a 50-min (as opposed to 75-min) class. At the beginning of every class, I give the class 3 goals for the lecture, and then we proceed to achieve one of them

  12. PS: This is from my most cited paper, which means that >200 people have seen this figure and either not noticed or just kept it to themselves that I am an idiot.

Postdoc on rattlesnake conservation genomics in my lab. Explore interaction between adaptive variation and drift in small populations and develop your own projects! See for details… Please RT.

  14. Honorable mentions to , who came in just behind Josef and , who was almost correct. Brenen gets the consolation prize of getting to find errors in my lectures for the rest of the semester

  15. I guess I owe Josef coffee next time I see him, which will probably be today. I think NSF guidelines currently prohibit me from buying Ted coffee, but maybe later. Both of you are free to feel as superior as you wish!

  16. Luckily, I was able to redo this paper in a book chapter in 2016. We used numbers that made sense and just represented them graphically, which was easier to understand anyway:

  17. 🏆🏆 to who found another problem that I had either forgotten about or never noticed--one of the selection vectors is pointing the wrong way based on the numbers I gave. It should be coming out of the other side of the minor axis.

  18. 🏆 Congrats to @psuedacris, who was the first to identify the problem that has haunted me. Yes, I used a covariance matrix that cannot exist because the genetic correlation is equal to 3! I used this in the calculation, so the Δzs don't make sense.
