No. Wooga publicity said they were using erlang. The company I mentioned has never said anything publicly. Wish they had but it’s their call.

People or Organizations that intentionally lie about what programming language they use in something has to be one of the funniest things I have encountered in tech. Like yellow LEDs funny.
And boy does it make hiring fun 🤪

Call of Duty servers are written in Erlang. Wonder if it's Activision, Blizzard, or a subsidary of them...

WhatsApp well known. Thing is you can do well in many functional langs. Friends from Netscape built an I/O monad in Ocaml server & bear pants off Java thread pool arch, at a real-time service biz post-Netscape.

My uninformed speculation: those companies using bad languages would continue to do so if you shouted the benefits from the rooftops.

Same thing used to happen with lisp and I suspect few other "move but no one is using it" languages
