Are atoms sentient? I think the jury is still out on that one. Aside from that, if a being is a clump of atoms, then a "being" is actually just another word for an "object". I can accept that. But we do not know what an "object" is. Only our opinions about it

Sentience is the capacity to feel, perceive or experience subjectively. I do not think atoms have this capacity.
