I don't think animals suffer less. Do children suffer less because their brains are less developed? If anything they suffer more because they lack the ability to rationalise, and to redirect attention away from pain and suffering.
Oh I see! I'd actually say that most people don't experience the misery of life at all, and that many creatures can feel terror and despair, and those that can probably do most of the time.

I concur. People are oblivious to most suffering and pain that goes on around them. Animals, for the most part, are in a constant state of paranoia and fear, and for good reason. If the humans don't kill em, some other goddamn animal will.

That's the only reason we exist: To perpetuate the strands of DNA in perpetuity, for no purpose other than to replicate for the sake of replication.
