So, if the US and China start lobbing nukes back and forth at each other, which will trigger N. Korea, Russia, India and Pakistan (and probably Israel) to start lobbing nukes, that still won't get the job done of annihilating Homo sapiens off this hellhole planet?

I think it would. The environmental degradation and the nuclear winter aftermath will finish us off and most other large mammals.

hmm i'm a bit skeptical about a long lasting (more than a year) and the severity of a nuclear winter, people in bunkers could live there for much longer with storage food
