Today my male co-teacher was complaining about a student that just showed up months after classes have started. He was on a pissed off tone. Then I told him to remember how the Prodigal Son was welcomed by his father even after throwing away his life to vices..

A feast was prepared and the Son was lovingly welcomed, the father grateful for his son's return..
I told him we should be thankful that our student would still want to come to us despite these difficult times.
His face suddenly calmed. Then he looked at me and smiled.

The Prodigal Son left his father's house and fell upon hard times and endured much humiliation. Only then did he repent and return to his father's house.
If the student did not return contrite and humbled, then the results may vary.

Its a child. Children reflect their parents and environment. If those are both unfavorable, children will tend to be difficult.. Us teachers must be aware of this.

Oh, okay. Just a baby. The Prodigal Son parable is about an adult son who went out on his own. Took a job feeding the swine and so on.
With small children one must be patient and kind. They're just babies. Not fully developed, yet.
