Periodically I sit & observe my thoughts & feelings & emotions rising & appearing & then fading & disappearing, often cycling over & over again, appearing & disappearing repeatedly, whether I want them to or not. They just happen automatically. There is no freewill

What determines the determined? Does the person watching ever get curious about what it is that watches? That is true no free will but perhaps that only applies to the mind. I wrote this without a choice. Hope you are well. Much kindness to you.

The DNA and the environment "determines the determined." "What it is that watches" is the nervous system and the sensory apparatuses attached thereto.
It's really a lot simpler than what people try to make it out to be. People like to obfuscate everything into some big mystery.
