I don't know if you've read my above tweet or the one preceding this one, but, my contention is that the descriptions of "enlightenment" are synonymous with death

Yes I did. On this point, I've heard it said many times, you die before you die & I'm aware of, especially in non-duality circles, of the death = enlightenment point. But, sadly, I'm not convinced. The death of what? The ego? A letting go of everything? Or complete annihilation?

Find a guru or spiritual teacher. They have answers for your questions. I'm just looking at tweets this morning about "enlightenment" and how these descriptions are analogous to being dead, in my opinion. Even the Xtian "take up your cross & follow Jesus" seems to be a death wish

Thanks but I've no desire for a guru/teacher. I do understand where you're coming from, and indeed, having had a subarachnoid haemorrhage, I feel I've brushed up against death but enlightenment, as much as I know of it, just doesn't feel the same thing. Sorry to talk out of turn.

I'm not a spiritual teacher. If you ask questions about spirituality, you need an expert in that field. My tweets are just my own personal observations. So, you don't see that these descriptions of higher states of consciousness are analogous to death? Emptiness, silence, etc.?

I think we are. Your original Tweet is what I heard so much of in spiritual circles; namely, we die before we die. Like I said though, and I don't want to fall out over this, what do I (really) know?

I never tweeted "die before you die" in some metaphorical way. I'm talking about death in the literal sense. See? I knew we weren't talking about the same thing lol
