Dogs smell fear in a person miles away. Iβve always been a cat person - the only dogs I dislike r ones who r overly friendly to me..Iβm generally a cold/distant person, bt Iβm touchy when it comes to cats. Despite being born/raised Muslim, both sides of my family were dog owners.

I usually just walk past dogs like itβs nothing + most of the time they leave me alone. If they come up to me, I end up petting them unless they catch me in a split second off guard. When you donβt make eye contact with dogs, most of the time they leave you alone.

One day a friend of mine explained to me that Prophet Muhammad was afraid of dogs or disliked them + thatβs y Muslims prefer cats, over dogs. My friend was also born/raised a Muslim, he prefers dogs over cats + thatβs when I realised dogs r disliked bc of one person - itβs silly.

I used to hang out with Muslims years ago. Yeah, they hate dogs. It's from the ahadith. Rasulallah sallallahu alayhi wa salam said they were filthy. End of story... lol mashallah

Many of them do, youβre right. I think bc my parents were from a secular Muslim country they were more lenient w dogs. I know a lot of Iraqis who are dog lovers, but then again, we arenβt the most religious people. Many are agnostic theists who have some doubts abt their faith.

It's mainly the more fundamentalist Muslims that label dogs haram... the Salafis, the Wahhabis, Hanafis, etc.

My parents are Hanafis. All of Sunni Arab Iraq is Hanafi. Sunni Kurds are Shafiβi.

Yes. According to Islamic texts itβs supposed to be 73 different sects, but Iβm sure we have more than that.
