He died from tuberculosis. He literally starved to death. He could no longer eat.
That's a hell of a way to have to go, isn't it?

That is a hell of a way to go out, makes me think of Schopenhauer in a way though with his thought on suicide where he believed the only manner of self-destruction he found to be philosophically acceptable is death by starvation.

I think Schopenhauer was sympathetic toward suicide but he did not advocate for it
