I guess he doesn't like Schopenhauer

Not sure about that. This is what he thinks about Kant: "I keep returning to Kant, but for the opposite reason. Each time I read, & witness the scintillating & austere construction of a system, I cannot help but to feel a certain sadness the edifice itself is somehow depressing."

Funny ;) I don't know this guy too much but from the only book I read "Cosmic Pessimism", I think Schopenhauer is somehow highly considered by him...

Well, that's a pretty scathing indictment of Schopenhauer that you tweeted. I love Schopenhauer's World as Will..., especially the 3rd and 4th books.
I've never read Thacker.

It's my first time I've read him. I consider Schopenhauer a genius. May be you're right about the tweet that can be critical of him but the reason I tweeted was that it seems to me he appreciated the ·"mystical conclusion of his work". May be I was lost in translation !!!

Thacker says Schopenhauer's book "is one of the great failures of systematic philosophy" and "ends up crumbling into dubious arguments" and "blah blah blah".
It doesn't sound very favorable, to me...

Thanks for pointing that out. As I was saying my interpretation was that what I tweeted wasn't a real criticism 'cause I thought Thacker didn't believe in systematic philosophy. That's why in my first reply I quoted his opinion on Kant. Anyhow glad you enjoy Schopenhauer ;)

I recently re-read Schopenhauer's "The Indestructability of Being" (Hollingdale's translation) and what a fascinating, alluring read that is. I tweeted a few salient quotes from it a while back, but the nihilist AN's on my feed didn't much go for it lol

I can't agree more with you. Great mind without doubt! Regarding his quotes doing not so well...I'll blame the algorithm, built with optimism bias😆

You obviously are not familiar with my followers... one of the most nihilistic, suicidal group of pessimistic people ever... lol
I'm not exactly a little ray of sunshine, either
