I see what you mean. Also, this text reminds me of some of those Advaita Vedantists who advocate the cessation of thought (also, Zen & Taoists) and merging with the absolute silence or Self (atman). The problem is thought or the intellect. ANs learn this, too

Most people can't. That's why there are few zen or advaita masters and many devotees.
I think Ramana Maharshi was able to do it. He could turn the mind off at will. He was a true master. Others can do it part time. I can get a few seconds & it's like bliss.

I know what you mean. The harder you try to turn the mind off, the more disturbed it gets. There's an art to just letting the mind/intellect chill out on its own. You do it by not doing it, so to speak. It's tricky.
