I owned a horse once upon a time. Mainly to feed it & clean up after it. When it got infirm, I did what I was supposed to do. I loaded it up, took it to auction, sold it for dog food. I'm guilty of so much more than behavior that offended other humans. So much more.

I have friends who ride horses. Don't take it personally. But I always thought it was strange, this need to break another animal's spirit & to ride on its back & make it do your bidding. Just an observation. In olden times, horses were used for transportation

A horse is a large life. It radiates strength & majesty. We often feel small in life, barely alive, staggering from one job to another, one relationship to another, one dark night to another. We sit on a horse for the same reason a vampire sucks blood: to feel alive.
