I've always wondered that if someone once was but is no more, then what were they ever in the first place but a word, a notion in our mind, a figment of our imagination?

That's been my general consensus for a while, now, but everyone gets upset when I say there is no "you". They always argue & say "What if I hit you with a brick?" & so on. It is hard for people to accept that the ego-self is a mental construct.
