There really is no "you". It is a reflection of the thought process. This is where the confusion lies.

Hence the quotation marks. What makes it tricky? The others don't get it & "they" will put "you" in "prison" if "you" don't pay "your" "TAXES" ..So, eventually, all our airy transcendent philosophizing gets sorely tested. Yeah, I know it's true, but so's brain Cancer.

Taxes get paid. Work gets done. Everything continues as it is. There's simply no one doing it. It does itself.

I get U; 55 yrs ago, I read everything I could find about consciousness, duality, Maya, the illusory nature of identifying as a separate being, but what you're saying can seem like intellectualizing if you're being stabbed in the face & someone says, "Relax, there's no YOU." C?

You come up with the goofiest hypotheticals. "Stabbed in the face"... lol.
All I know is if attention is observed, when it is not on a thought, the sense of "you" is absent.
But if you're worried about getting stabbed in the face, it's not gonna work 😆

You seem 2 B in great shape in terms of dealing with it all with serene indifference. It sometimes appears that you're one who finds it all sad & cruelly pointless & would prefer to not be here, but now "you" have taught me that "you" don't even exist, hence..No problem, Eh? :-)

At my age? I'm watching "my self" fade in tiny phases with the seasons. One day, as I said, if enough of "me" is left to consciously watch - the "I" part will leave the room & close the door behind it. But it's all talk.. :-)

Yeah, it's kind of like the ego "I" dying before the body dies. It's a relief.

OK, except, again: something we can call "I" or "Nobody" has to run a few errands, pay 3 bills, take some prescriptions, etc...OR...some things "I" don't want to...will happen to "me" - which may not exist..in some deep intellectual sense..but will FEEL it..HARD. C what I mean?

You keep saying you understand what I'm saying, but you obviously do not. The "I" or "you" is not a "something". It's a grammatical fiction. It's a reflection of the thought mechanism.

I know it's a grammatical fiction; I have a degree in Creative Writing. My favorite poet, Wallace Stevens called everything that is, was or ever will be, "The Supreme Fiction."
