I see people lamenting that a half a billion animals have been killed in the recent Australian bush fires. Yet, people torture and eat the flesh of that many animals every couple of days, without giving a single fuck, as they wipe the slime from their mouths.

I was making reference to the hypocrisy of people who feign compassion for animals. People often post they are animal lovers. When asked if they eat meat they're like "Well, yeah..." Usually, even then, they fail to see the duplicity of their virtue signaling
