I dont claim to be necessarily a practioner of the "surrender" method (it's popular in eastern philosophy). Theoretically, if a thought pops into your head, accept it. Then when it goes, let it go. Easier said than done. It is sadhana, a practice in Vedanta

This method of accepting/letting go can be found in Zen Buddhism and Taoism as well. Don't grasp, don't reject anything. One becomes centered in the stillness of being. But it's not easy. It's easy to get distracted with thoughts & emotions...
