To what end would one indulge in that? If anything counts, it's who and what one is here and now. None of us has the slightest control whatever over where our DNA came from so why waste precious time fretting over it?

I think what she's trying to say is that we are the descendants of a long line of suffering, exploitation, brutality and death, and, that is nothing really to be proud of; and, why continue this monstrosity?
