Yes, this is horrible but I think it’s either a Halal or Kosher operation (religious exemption). I’ve been to a number of beef slaughter plants for my job and that’s not how it’s normally done. The cow is rendered unconscious by a captive bolt gun and then bled out.

I’m not making excuses for this video or for any inhumane treatment of animals. I’m not vegan myself but I understand why people are.
