I've never gotten that response before. I usually get fear and hostility. It usually turns into the person yelling to everyone else that I want to kill everybody. Or they get angry & say they'll do whatever the fuck they want, fuck you, buddy! And so on...

The family I've spoken with haven't been able to think about it in any logical capacity. I've been met with rather defensive and egoistic replies. And that's fine, it's expected. But if you can convince someone that A-ism is a highly altruistic idea, they may be receptive to it.

Those that aren't might just be very self-absorbed and egoistic in which case there's really nothing you can say that will change their mind. I suppose you need to understand the person you're interacting with and then decide if it's worth your energy to talk about these ideas.
