In every debate and most conversations, there is a power struggle going on of one person trying to win over another person to their way of thinking and behavior. Just talking to someone, there is a struggle, a contest going on to gain something.

I have yet to see any debate conclude with a person's mind changed. Both combatents realize its all just a show to look good for their own audience.

I much prefer an honest conversation with disagreement because it's not about winning per say but trying to get your point across and respectfully strengthening it and your opponents arguments

That would be like a prizefighter who likes to get in the ring with a good sparring opponent to tighten up his skills, yet, neither are going in for the knockout punch
